Base Overview
Topographic mapping depicts natural and manmade features on the earth's surface such as transportation & access networks, hydrography, Alberta Township System, Geo-administrative Areas and contours.

 

The 1:20 000 Base Feature dataset is the most accurate and detailed of the Base products, and was created to populate GIS applications.  Funding models are in place for updating and to preserve this valuable resource available for Alberta.

 

1:20 000 Historic files are not updated, but provide a reliable base for cartographic mapping.  Small scale products are more generalized and offer provincial Base mapping coverage FREE of Charge.
