AS THE AGENT FOR Spatial Data Warehouse Ltd. (SDW), AltaLIS has the responsibility of making Alberta's base mapping infrastructure more available, accessible, accurate and affordable. AltaLIS Ltd. is a joint venture company with shares being held by The Silvacom GroupTM, North West Geomatics Ltd. and Martin Newby Consulting Ltd.
Since April 1998 the AltaLIS team has been performing the continued updating, re-engineering, storage, distribution, value-added redistribution and general management of primary provincial mapping data sets: Urban & Rural Cadastral and Title, Topographic and Small Scale.
AltaLIS and SDW completed a detailed business plan and in December 1999, signed a Joint Venture Agreement (JVA). This long term agreement has allowed for the implementation of new pricing and licensing options as well as the Value Added Service Providers (VASP) Agreement, and has led to overall reduced pricing to users on virtually all mapping data sets.
This partnership has facilitated the creation and maintenance of 5 new datasets: ATS Polygons, Urban & Rural Title Mapping, Municipal Boundaries and Disposition Mapping. AltaLIS is continually working towards enhancing delivery mechanisms, and our interactive website allows users to view data and download mapping directly to their desktop.
